Psychological
Support

A child’s cancer diagnosis affects us deeply as a mother, father, or other caregiver.

You may feel fear, sadness, anger, and worry about your child’s suffering and the uncertainty of the illness journey. These reactions are normal and common among parents; however, the way each person experiences and copes with these difficult feelings and emotions is unique.

It can be important to have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with someone who listens attentively and can help you recognize and use both internal and external resources that will strengthen you throughout this experience.

Acreditar’s psychology service is provided by professionals experienced in pediatric oncology support and is  available to caregivers, sick children and young people, their siblings, and those who, after treatment, are still dealing with issues related to the illness.
How it works
  • Support is limited to a maximum of 10 sessions (but can be extended if necessary);
  • Consultations can be in-person or remote, depending on your location;
  • The reason for the request must be related to the experience of the illness;
  • You should not be receiving support from another psychologist.

Costs?

The cost of the consultations is covered by Acreditar, with a symbolic contribution of €5.00 per session from the family.

Parent Support Group

Although not therapeutic in nature, all parents are invited to participate in these meetings. Here, we aim to foster the recognition and understanding of emotions — both your own and others’ — and to encourage the sharing of strategies to cope with the challenges that the illness brings.
