Not infrequently, cancer increases the demands on families who are already economically vulnerable. In a study conducted by Acreditar, we found that when a child has cancer, there is a decrease in annual income and, at the same time, an increase in expenses. Despite the existence of various state social supports, these are not sufficient for the real needs of many families.
Acreditar strives to ensure that parents can focus on their child’s health and that financial difficulties do not add to the stress caused by the illness. We do this through four forms of support.
It allows families to cover essential expenses for their dignity and health (rent and other household bills, pharmacy costs, etc.).
It is provided through a supermarket card (with a value proportional to the number of family members), allowing each family to purchase the products that best suit their needs and preferences.
Provision of essential materials that families need: baby items, school supplies, prosthetics, wheelchairs, and more.
Partnerships with various companies, providing some services for free and others at very advantageous rates for families: dental clinics, gyms, palliative care, reiki, opticians, and more.
